Better your home at home

Bringing my target audience to check out this blog is going to be a challenge.

Challenge as was Design to me....Design -- my favourite field of interest. My instincts to design & create have never been so expressive as they are now.

So, I want to give back to the world around me now & express my self through this little Blog.

As the title suggests , I am going to help you with bettering your home at home.... How many of us women have this hidden interest in Designing our Home to our taste. But somehow, when we scroll through the pages of the world wide web, we come across some astonishing but hugely engaging & expensive ideas. I want to change this once.

As I was spending the last few lazy afternoons at my sweet adobe. Enjoying my sabbatical, the Designer in me calls out to do something new every time with the things available at home. Being self employed, means to start saving your spends... And that's what I want all of us to do but still make our home look like a part of us....

As I am full of colors by nature, I always wanted my home to be that... Just do that, just explore & express through colors.

In this Blog I will take you through the color guide  for your home :

As the name says : LIVING ROOM : This space really needs to be living. It should speak the story of your home.  So paint hues of colors that you love , that define the character of your home. Make it stand out through one focus wall. Display your best artwork, family picture collage & articles & fill up this wall. To enlarge a small sitting corner do this . Just collect everything you have in your almirahs, old & saved & let it display.... Just collage it up...

Door ways : Make it cozy & inviting... Jazz it up with some abstract art work, mirrors, Tea lights , old world stuff like lanterns , Victoria wall clocks etc. If you have space enough for a person or 2 to walk and still wider , add up a sleek wall mounted console.... An easy way to Jazz up the door ways is to add up a wall decal sticker of your chosen theme easily available on Amazon.in...I have used it & I loved it. Colours here should be subtle & neutral like whites/beiges/greys etc.

Come further more into your home , the Kitchen: Yeah ! Isn't this the space we spend most of our time in. Well the max part of most ...definitely... :)  Make it sparkling..Add some arty hooks to hang your ladles, serving spoons.... Choose colors & textures carefully because this part of the home required frequent clean-up. So the surface should not be very grainy or suede...Avoid veneers & use neutral hues here too, to make it look large & evergreen.. Brighter colors like greens & yellows don't work in normal middle class kitchens. So don't experiment... If you have any exposed columns , use it to display some kitchen specific pictures, menu boards...Your kitchen is sure to come alive..

I am already feeling lazy with the name BEDROOM : Play it up well. Let this space relax & rejuvenate you... Use one wall as the focus...some floral wall papers or some soothing colors like sea greens, lemon yellows, sky blues...Keep the ceiling white & minimal... Don't use too much of a wall art , pictures & mirrors. Just what is enough. Light up corners with nice floor /table lamps , wall lamps near the bed sides. Add floral upholstery to the seating couch/puffys in the bedroom. Hope you can sleep well with these tips & tricks...

Just enjoy the experience of rejuvenating your home, keep shuffling when you feel bored with the decor... This doesn't take much...Trust me !

Hope my Blog was of some use to those who matter ! If it touched you, just leave some positive comments....

  1. Don't I know it ? I have had first hand experience of your designing skills ....thanks ever so much for your timely advice, my flat is still admired by visitors even though its now 5 years old !!
Only one bit of advice to readers, don't clutter up the living room as it is not practical. Everything needs to be dusted on a daily basis and I have found to my dismay that stuff gets chipped and cracked before you realise it. Collectibles are best kept away in a glass cupboard!!
