Balcony is something that brings us closer to what our high rise claustrophobic living spaces separate us from.. Yes the Good Old Nature...

Why to discard these pretty areas which are out of our homes , but still an integral part of it... Lets look at some of the easy do-ups possible for the pretty little open space .

1. Build up a vertical garden -- Its simple & beautiful... Just install a grill against any existing wall & hang up various sizes of planters. Bamboo grills would work cheap & great. Rustic & natural. Easy on maintenance.
2. Create a cozy sit out -- Sitting & bird watching in your own little patio is something out of the dreams. But believe that we can really make it happen even if its a small tiny space in the name of a balcony. Put a small wood palette base made to tailor fit the wall space on a convenient side. Cushion it up . Accentuate with abstract cushions. And you are good to go day dream !
3. Make space for some more life apart from plants . Hang a little Birdie cage or a small fish tank to add to the romance.
4. Water is an important part of nature. If you have some space go for a small waterfall, a desi one would be great.. Just the sound of falling water is therapy to calm your busy minds.
5. Make it grassy. To play with the outdoor floors has become a lot easier. Go get some removable artificial grass rugs & just throw them on the floor... You can mix and match with some wooden pallets to create a landscape. Some corner can house those pretty little white pebbles. 
6. Some LED candle lights will beautify the set up. Easy way out to tedious wiring for decorative lights. Keep the fittings plain & simple. Just focus on the light output & the drama that it creates in your otherwise flat ,dull balcony space.
7. Add some personalized decor on the walls, some handwritten quotes . Let the philosophical you rise & shine !
8. If less is not more , look at the ceiling . Just DIY some false ceiling with bamboo & rope & make your creepers climb up!
