Design the old fashioned way....
Interior Design has been my subject for the past 18 years now. Precisely since 2001... Moving every day from being a fresher to the the present day me...an entrepreneur...a blogger.....a designer... Though still struggling as I was the first day I started Design. Still I am all these titles today. And proud that I am holding all those.
Seeing the changes in the industry over the past few years , its quite evident that the modern day ways are documenting more of works all across the world in a small word called google...There are a pool of references available for the so called Designers and the non designers. Its easier to make your space look great by just being perched on to websites like Pinterest! Sites like these are like books of good old days... They give you real time visualization of almost everything that comes to our mind. They not only support but also prove us in many ways. But they have also brought us to an age where every thing that your appointed architect or interior designer does feels familiar, seen... There is similarity in every 10th image that you see on the subject....
It all feels like Been there , done that kind of stuff. We find a lot of stuff thats immensely beautiful , immensely creative but theres hardly a thing or two thats immensely new and fresh... We are falling short of real heart borne design.
We are falling short of the thought process thats a huge part of designing.
In a small bid to ensure that i take my own small step in taking designing back to originality and thus in a way improving the importance of us designers in the society... We urge all designers of these times to do it the old fashioned way... Look at newness and not being the most trendy... Do what comes from your heart and not what the trends demand...
We as designers need to value each other more by not allowing copying of design frequently.. Repetition of your own original works is something else and copying is another... So lets stop being inspired by references for doing an new design.. Lets be designers first and trend setters last...
Lets keep our senses open, but infuse freshness once again in the industry... Lets pledge to do our next five projects without looking at images from google...
Lets bring Interior Design to the forefront !
